A little more progress last night. I had to make a flange on the one edge, so I cut a piece of MDF in the shape I needed, clamped it to the metal and proceeded to try and form it:

Then I used my brake again to put a slight bend on the opposite side and then hand formed the slope. Here's the old piece and the new one:

Then I made another lip on the front edge:

Now I have to finish the front so it can make holes to bolt it to the rad support:

Oh well, what the heck. Pat, it's a 57 Chevrolet 210 2 door post. Picked up last week, if you go over here, you'll see some details on it and my search for one:

Another good looking project Dave. You are going to be a busy guy for the next few years with the Camaro, the truck and now a 57.

Yeah, but I'm loving every minute of it. I've been waiting a long time to do this kind of stuff!!

Last night I welded the front edge to the replacement panel.

I took the rest of the inner wheelhouse, mounted it back onto the car temporary to locate the new panel to it. I marked up the panel, but before I weld it, I have to fab and replace the tabs for the fender nuts. At least three of them are worn out. Once they're done and welded to the outer fender, I can finished welding up the two inner fender pieces. I then have to re-install the inner fender and the battery tray and drill a few holes so they can be attached together. Lastly, touch up all of the parts with fresh paint. With any luck, I should be done this before the end of next week.

This morning I went back to work on the inner fender. I put the two pieces into the car so I could fit things up. Then I welded the two pieces together, then primed and painted it. I also had to weld two tabs onto the outer fender for the j-nuts.

Tabs:

Out with the old:

In with the new:

Weld through primer on the two pieces to be welded:

I got it painted just before I left for work, but no picture. Hopefully I can get it back into the car tomorrow!
