Did a 1974 Z-28 4 speed come with factory A.C. ?

I have a 1974 Z-28 4 speed 3 owner i purchased it from the 2nd owner this car has what i say and looks factory a.c. If it was done at the dealer it was one of the best jobs i have seen. So that's my question can any one help.

yes, you could get AC in a 74 Z28. Factory Ac and non-Ac firewalls are different so that is not something a dealer could easily add and look stock.

I own a 1974 z-28 4 speed with A/C my question is did this car roll off the assemble line with this are did the dealer install. I had a car collector tell me GM didn't make this car factor A/C only dealer opton.

73 was the first year you could get A/C on a Z28 so its a factory option even on yours

with the close ratio 4 spd in 73 you couldn't get A/C, you had to get the wide ratio 4spd or the auto trans. I'm not sure on 74 though.

Sounds like you need to find a different car collector to talk to ........... one that knows what he's talking about. LOL

Look at your VIN number. If the 5th digit tells you the car has the Z engine then the car is a Z. If you open the hood and it has the big clunky suitcase unit on the firewall like all other A/C camaros then the A/C is factory installed. Last thing would be to verify that your car came with a 4 speed. It would actually be easier to turn an automatic car into a 4 speed then to add factory a/c to any car that didnt have. it. Basically a factory a/c body is totally different then a non a/c body. Cars that didnt have A/C from the factory will have a pair of knobs on the front kick panels that control air vents coming into the car. A factory A/C car will have 2 A/C vents in the middle of the upper dash. All dealer installed units would have a non a/c dash and kick panels,and would mostly likey have a unit hanging under the dash.

I have never heard that 4 speed Z/28's after didnt come with A/C so I am thinking your friend needs to go check his facts.

my 73 Z28 has a numbers matching 4 speed with air so why not a 74 . your ac system should be a VIR system 73s have a POA valve. the motor....

it will be an M20 though

yes AC in a 74 Z28. first year for ac in z28 was 73.
