Do they make different size egr valves? Im having a hard time getting my new valve cover on. Even the old struggles to go on. I noticed that on the 2 back bolts they had 2 washers instead of one and some type of gel silicone

I don't think that's the correct EGR valve.

Take that one to the parts store and compare it to one off the shelf for your car.

Here's the vacuum hose diagram for a 79.

Does your car have the rest of the emissions parts?
(Are they required where you live... For inspections?)

If not... You can replace it with an EGR block-off plate.

I may just do that. I'm in Texas. I don't think an emissions test is required for vehicles older than 25 years. I haven't renewed the inspection since I bought it since I haven't taken it out yet.

Anyone know what this circled part is? I'm prepping the engine for paint and I'm thinking of replacing that just like the chrome egr block off plate.

Also, does anyone what this part is? The one highlighted in red. Is it supposed to have some kind of lock to keep the wire from cable from coming off? It didnt have one. The top one has a little clip

That's part of an old choke mechanism.

You now have an electric choke so it isn't used.

If you took the intake manifold off... You would most likely see this "loop" under that plate.
(Your intake is an older style unit, probably not original to your 79.)
