Mine are pointed up through the dash like original. The sound is way better since I now have speakers in both the front and rear now. Besides that, all my speakers are the same (all JBL). If you're going to bother putting stuff in, make sure you put in 2 speakers and not just 1 for replacement. The 2 speakers will give better sound quality and you'll be way happier.

if you want 4" speakers with good bass response, get 4" components. you could put the woofers on the dash and the tweeters on the pillars.

I plan on fabricating a custom center console out of fiberglass, I am going to make it run up farther towards the firewall though and build a box in it for some 6X9's. I'll post pictures if i ever get it done.

I made some rigid-nylon speaker mouting plates that fit behind the kickpanels. Unfortunately, Yahoo doesn't allow me to link photos so I can't show you the pics. Too bad there's no way to upload photos directly to this site.

Click on the new URL in my signature and it should take you to my photo album. Then go to the kick panel speakers folder.

It was a really tight fit behind the parking brake mechanism, but everything works great. I'm also using the dual 4.0" speakers in the dash. But those three-way 6.5" speakers really do the trick accoustically.

I know somebody does aftermarket kick panels that hold speakers? I cant remember what magazine I saw them in, but they had a round raised area that would hold 6" rounds? Anyone else know ?I'll try to find the info .

I took a ride in my friends 2001 TA yesterday. HE has the monsoon speaker system in there. There are components in the bottom lower front portion of the door panel. Seems to me it would not be very difficult to fab up component boxes that could be integrated into the lower plastic door panel to be located in the same place in our cars. Especially in the ones that have power windows becuase there has to be cuts for the wires already. I think if and when I do it. I will do them there.
