Since we drive Camaro's, I'm assuming most of us are chevy guys. Straight up, which truck platform is better the 800 or 900? I'm looking to buy a GM full size truck truck to replace my tired S10.

I built both when the truck plant in Oshawa was in operation. The gmt900 is a nice truck. Rides like a car, nice interior and all that jazz. I owned one. And I owned a gmt 800 and now a avalanche. Although the ride if the 800 series is not a smooth as the 900's. I find the 800's feels more like a truck and better engineered.

As I said, I built both, and i like the build quality of the 800's. However I do like the styling of the 900's. But my avalanche blows both away in styling IMO

I agree with Blackbird, I have a 07 (GMT900) with a 5.3 and love it but it seems my old 2000 (5.3) had more guts. But I went from a ext cab to a crew cab, so the extra weight prob is the reason. My 07 still has enough horses but if I had to do it over again I would have bought the Max trailering pkg with the 6.2. Has more balls and gets similar mileage as the 5.3.

I've driven both, my father has owned both and from my experience so far, the 800 series seems tougher. I've seen them both on a lift and have seen thing I like and don't like about either. IMO it seems that there was some definate cost-cutting on the 900 series.
