Several years I restored a 66 Mustang convertible it was just a simple 289 2 barell auto with the factory under dash A/C. It was a fun car to drive but not very quick. There just as easy or easier than our Camaros to get parts.

You have a great aunt! However, there is a complication. The reason this car has not run is because it does not want to leave Florida. The car saw this coming. It is averse to cold weather and will only leave if dragged, kicking, screaming, and resisting in every manner possible. (jk) Congradulations! Enjoy!

Yep, Florida cars are like that  . This reminds me back in the 70's in NY when my older brother bought a '68 Mustang that had a 302 to take the engine out and put it in our '66 Comet  . He junked the Mustang after that. Also remember us trying to blow up the 289 in the Comet just to enjoy blowing up a Ford but we gave up after a few tries.

I need relatives like yours! I love Mustangs, can't beat the original styling of the older ones, great looking cars.
The funny thing about this its my wife's relative. She dosnt trust any of my wife's brothers. And she knows I'll take care of it and keep it in the family. My kids are thrilled. I can't stop thinking about this. For me it's like being a little kid waiting for Christmas.

The only thing I don't like about this thread is the title "Going to the other side", cool cars are cool cars, there is no other side  . I know you're just using it in fun but bugs me when so called "car people" disparage other brands, a real car guy appreciates a cool car no matter who made it. If I had enough space and tons of money I think I'd have a least one great car from all the domestic manufacturers.

Your right!!! I just used that because I'm on this site and hear it all the time. I do enjoy all cars. And I don't have a ton of money. I'm just lucky for once in my life. Nothing has ever been giving to me. I work very hard for everything I have.
