Nothing wrong with a stout 406" sbc. Abused mine all the way to a track championship. Like my dad always said, "There is nothing you can do with a big block you can't do with a small block except put 200 extra pounds over your front tires, just have to work them a little harder"

I like mine.
I put a bunch of aluminum parts on to lighten it to about what an iron SBC would weigh.
Handles great.
You can go LS like everyone else.

You can't beat the Cool factor with a BBC.

Except if it's for a drag car I totally agree. Never seen the point of a big block in a little 2nd gen Camaro. A bigger car maybe yes. But that's my opinion. I wouldn't say you go "wrong" either way.

The big block looks awesome.
It's taller so a cowl hood is needed with a hi-rise intake.
Gas mileage suffers, mainly from the right foot.
It's heavy but using aluminum heads, intake, water pump and radiator will help to reduce that weight difference vs a stock SBC.

A rollerized 350 runs pretty darn strong,,,,, add a 100+ cubic inches and dayum those back tires only last a few thousand miles....

I plan to use the car for going to shows, I did enough racing in the old days. I've always liked a BB ever since I had my '67 427 435HP Corvette. The ZZ454 has aluminum heads and intake so the difference in weight will be minimal. I also like the idea that GM listed the LS6 as an option but never built one, I did race one back in the day and it was a monster. I want to be able to drive the car and enjoy hitting the gas but not every day.
I guess it is true that once you go BB you never go back.

I'm a small block guy, but a big block sure looks good under the hood at shows. Only thing better looking is a W engine in a tri five Chevy I think. Big blocks get pretty pricey though.

I would love a 348 or a 409 just because of the cool factor.
