Apparently my passing gear / kick down is not working. When I step on the gas hard, it never gears down. Is there an adjustment on this? If so, how do I go about making the adjustment?

The labels should explain it to you.

This is a "Spectre" universal bracket (AutoZone part) mounted on a stock aluminum intake and Q-jet.

When the throttle is depressed about half way, the linkage hits the end of the slot and moves the cable. This pulls the rod in the transmission and tells it to down shift. (When it has moved far enough.)

The yellow arrow for the downshift cable on the right side of the pic points to the locking tab which holds the cable adjustment.

To adjust it.... Unlock the clip, (It pries up with a small screwdriver if you can't get it with your fingers) manually run the throtle linkage to WOT. (Pulling the cable.)
Then push the locking clip back into place.
Done.

Just out of curiosity Terry, that is not how I have read to adjust it. I thought you 1) release the clip 2)run the throtle linkage to WOT 3) lock the clip. Have had various success with this method. My Vette ran like a raped ape but my Camaro is slower to down shift. Is your method more precise? Any chance of damaging the cable that way?
