The the pathetic little snowflakes are everywhere. I ignore them. They don't deserve my attention. And if something I do offends them? Then good...all the better.

There was NOTHING wrong with them then, and there is NOTHING wrong with them now. Period.

Of course, anyone here around in the 80's will remember SCTV episodes. Here is their take on "Leave it to Beaver."
Stellar cast just doing their thing back in the day.
Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, (both of the recent hit show-"Schitt's Creek") John Candy, Joe Flaherty, Harold Ramis, and Dave Thomas. Fun fact, Dave Thomas (Eddie) is the older brother to Ian Thomas, a Canadian pop music 'Star' from the 70's and 80's. Songs like "Painted Ladies" "Hold On" and probably the most remembered, "Right Before your Eyes" which was covered by and a big hit by "America".

To me, all of the "descriptive words" used to refer to non-white human beings are just that, descriptive words. Not unlike brand names of vehicles. Just that some said them in a demeaning derogatory manner many times. Not unlike some car people might say "Ford" or "Mopar" or "Honda" in a derogatory manner. Just descriptive words, to me. Even the slang derivatives.

I was watching a "Thin Man" movie the other night. In one segment, Thin Man's wife was following a guy down the street. He ducked into (and out of via the back door to the alley) pool hall. A place with a layer of cigarette smoke in it, as most of the men in there were wearing suits and ties. As soon as she walked in the door and toward the back door, the place erupted in whistles and greetings like "Hey, cutie!". She paid them no mind as she was on a mission to track the guy she was following. In that environment, those comments and such were perfectly normal, back then. In another environment, they could be life threatening.

As the "down-trodden" want to raise themselves up to "gain respect from others", they do not like the slang descriptive words slung toward them. Valid orientation, no matter the color of one's skin. Even white-skinned people have to prove their "worth" to other white people, from what I've seen, although "white privilege" can still be alive and well, IF we let it.

When I learned the verse "Be ye kind, one to another", back in the middle 1950s, I took it to mean EVERYBODY, period.

I see the Leave It To Beaver reruns pop up on my guide while surfing. I am sure I saw every episode multiple times as a kid in the 70's. I have put it on a few times in recently as background TV while I'm working at my computer, but some of the episodes were pretty hit or miss. Some are decent, but some have been so dumb I end up changing to some other mindless station. Certainly back in the day, these were good wholesome TV with a lesson in every episode interwoven into the plot line. As for the Viewer Discretion, I have noticed that on one of the channels that runs Rifleman and Bonanza and a few older western TV shows as well. One, can't think of the name has Clint Eastwood, probably when he was in his 30's.

My how times have changed.

That old Clint show is Rawhide. I still check it out sometimes on MeTV. Along with the Beaver.

The warnings are probably due to when the kids say their dad will hit them or clobber you one. Show names, Gilbert Bates and Larry Mondello always got Beaver in trouble along with Whitey Whitney. And Judy Hensler the squeeling rat will always snitch on you. I try and watch an episode everyday. Those good ol days are all gone BUT not forgotten. Now that’s funny sh!t to watch.

I saw a good one last week where Beaver got a magic 'disappearing coin' box and was doing tricks with it. Him and Larry tried to pull one over on Bengie, the little kid who rarely made an appearance on the show.

Larry takes a blanket and puts it in front of Beaver, then tells Bengie he was going to make Beaver disappear. Beaver crawls into a storage box behind them to hide. Larry lets down the blanket. Bengie sees Beaver is gone, but then looks down at the ground and sees a big rock, so he thinks Larry changed Beaver into the rock. 😆

Episode is called Beaver the Magician. Found a screenie from it, with Bengie holding the rock, after him and his Mom go over to the Cleaver's house to try and figure out what was going on...

Honestly - it's just different stuff that people are offended by now.
Back than it was unacceptable to depict:
A married couple sharing a bed
Belly button's
An interracial kiss
Women wearing pants
Homosexual's of any sort
Showing a toilet on camera
Women using the word "Pregnant"
Any mention of divorce.

People find things to be offended by in any era
