Let's Talk About Kimbo Slice

Anybody seen him on Youtube? I just watch his 3rd MMA fight live on CBS Sports tonight in the Elite XC series. He's one hell of a brawler. I realize he's still in 'rookie status' but man he can throw hands as well as anyone. His strikes are DEADLY. All he needs is conditioning....and LOTS of it. Kimbo admitted that he's got a lot to learn as far as ground fighting and grappling. He won his night tonight via TKO and is now 3-0 in his MMA career. You could clearly tell he was on the verge of a heart attack. He's got serious potential to be #1 eventually. Definitely worth keeping your eyes on.

I think he is an awesome fighter. He did way better on the ground than i thought he would. but number 1??? I dont know. maby top 5 in his class. If he can get his ground game down and conditioning he could do good. I am curious to see someone in his class that has really good ground game. It would be hard to stand toe to toe with him though he hits like a sledgehammer.

I've been pushing Slice as the next big Yahoo since 2006
He finally got his big break into a professional circuit.
He was a prison prize fighter, moving on to become a Miami porn kings street brawler, on to MMA.

This guy is what badass is all about. I own Bas Ruttens Big DVD's of Combat now
and I've followed him for awhile and he's truly a class act champion, and to take on
Kimbo for training, Kimbo WILL destroy just about every heavyweight out there IMHO.

I'd LOOOOOOVE to see him destroy Tim Silvia, I hated that big lurch dopey prick.
So glad Couture beat his ass and made him look stupid. UFC won't dare give him a fight.
Dana is pussyfooting around the reporters constant questioning.......

Slice needs some ground work, we need to see him get taken down so we can measure his ground skills.
Then again, look at Chuck Liddell......not great on the ground, so he stays on his feet.

I don't know if anyone has noticed yet, but all of Kimbo's fights have been against guys that look good on paper but are washed up.
Thompson has a jaw of pure glass and is not a technical fighter. He could have took mount and finished Kimbo a couple of times.

That said, Kimbo does have some deadly hands and was better on the ground than I thought he would be. Will he ever be a great? NO. He is just being marketed well right now and will do well. Just my thoughts.

Some guys train to be bad. Some guys are just badazz. Kimbo falls into the latter category....

Check out his backyard fights on youtube. Sometimes he'll just stand there with his arms by his side and take a few punches for show. And then commence to the whippin'.

If I was in MMA, I would be afraid...very afraid.

I agree 100%. He fights guys that are all set ups now. I'm not saying the guy isn't tough. But any moron with jiujitsu skills would have killed him last night. He was taken down by the slowest most telegraphed single leg and double leg shots ever. Then didn't know how to get out except for when the big dope with the planet for an ear allowed himself to be tipped over. The most upsetting thing about him winning is that I will have to hear all my students saying how great he is Monday morning. Uhhh no he just beat down a chump fighter......barely.

I have the DVD's from Bas Rutten to train......still waiting to get my floor mat.
I'm too cheap these days to pay for dojo training.....not to mention I have a newborn.

I totally forgot he was fighting last night.
I thought i programmed my BB. As far as the Gannon fight goes, he did get a good beatin.
Even tho Gannon's face looked like hamburger after it was over.
I have to say though that was YEARS ago and Gannon was a better MMA rounded fighter.
Kimbo was still in his entry level, more brawler then anything. So to use that fight as his performance mark.
I mean.....it's the ONLY fight he lost.

I do agree, in time we will see him face some tougher opponents, give him time he's only 3-0
that's not a HUGE record to be taking on big names yet, I think anyone would agree.

Personally Tim Silvia was a big dopey idiot, and I would lay $1,000 on the table right now on Kimbo for that fight.
That big dope was the UFC Heavyweight champ......and if he could be, I have no doubt Kimbo could be.

Brock VS Kimbo would be interesting as hell to watch.
