I just had my 355 dyno'ed at the shop today & it put out 432hp/440TQ vortec heads at 10.95:1. I know you're going with he 383 but you can still make really good power with a 350.

I wish these Dyno'd engines or chassis Dyno'd stuff also make it to the strip.
A few passes down the track is easier than Dyno pulls. And a hell of a lot more fun!

And of course post back here with all the numbers.

Sounds good, i have a new edelbrock performer intake. The black powder coated one. I was thinking about just getting edelbrock heads to compliment the intake manifold. The machine shop told me it would be 475 for all the machine work plus acid wash. But then they said if i wanted them to put everything else in like the crank...it sould cost an additional $350. I may see if the auto skills center on base will help me put in the crank, pistons etc. i really wanna learn this stuff myself. So i can bettter skilled beyond rotatig tires and changing starters.

It really is as easy as rotating the tires.
You just need the Right tools.

I'm also stationed at ft Benning. unless they got a brand new one, don't trust the torque wrenches at the skills center! they are precision tools being used and abused by unskilled hands. most parts stores will have a cheep one for $30-$40. probably only good for 2 or 3 rebuilds then get a new one

Built one with vortec heads a few years ago single pattern cam 432 horse and 463 on the torque.

This is 355 that just came of the dyno a 2 weeks ago. Dart 180 Pro 1 heads, HYD. roller cam .570 lift, Mahle flat top pistons, zero decked and left the VIN numbers on the deck, Morel lifters, Scat 6 inch rods. Champ pan & pick up, HP 600 carb. 1.5 roller rockers

Dynoed at 459 horse and 455 torque

Most rods unless they have been ground are not considered a stroker rod and you may have cam to rod clearance problem. Is the cam a small base circle cam?

Those cam bearings are a stock replacement if you ever decide to with a bigger cam and better springs those may not handle the task, The CHP-8 is considered a performance cam bearing.

Good luck with your build.
