We took our recently finished 79 z to its first ,in Dothan Alabama. When we arrived we discovered that all camaros there were in the same class. Among these were 3 very beautiful 69's. one a real z, one a SS, and one real pace car. there was also a very nice 68 as well with other nice camaros. I figured they would show favoritism towards the older cars (not really any nicer than ours but just because they were older) and had accepted that we would go home empty handed. Well at the end of the day we ended up with a first place award! made the other camaro owners mad and i understand because their cars were absolutley beautiful. Just surprised someone picked our little z over some of the cars there that were many times the value. In the picture below is our car and the 69 SS we were next to (that came in third)

Reminds me of a '72 Baldwin Motion taking best original at a show & shine with it's original paint about 10 yr's back. Knowing the cast of voters, I suppose it's the eye of the beholder. Congrats.:bowtie:

Congratulations! Honestly, aren't most folks burnt out on '69's anyway? There are so many "nice ones" that they just blur together to me. Also don't forget that the judges will eventually be us guys, and we'll be pretty open to anything.

Great job. I know you guys worked your butts off on that car. You deserved it. I was shocked last may when my camaro took best camaro at the gathering. I guess people are starting to notice the late second gen camaros. It is a breath of fresh air when you see one of these cars that is nice. They made more that year than any but for some reason they are hard to find not beat up. Thumbs up. I'm sure it wont be the first award you get with that car.
