I agree, there is absolutely no need for grade 8 bolts. Only because I couldn't find anymore at the time I've had a complete bb with steel heads and all on a stand held with only 2 grade 5 bolts. I wouldn't want to be flipping it around but it did hold no problem.

if i can find them in my garage.. i have some grade 5 bolts i used when i first mounted my block...after i let all the engine weight on them.. they definitly arent straight anymore..i did have 1" spacers on them though to move the block away from the mounts on the stand so i could mount it with the flexplate still on the engine... went grade 8 no problems with the engine sitting for over a year... i even started another engine on the stand... no problems

seriously.. use grade 8
with all the money going into your engine.. dont cheap out on the only thing holding the engine up...
