Tweaked the carb the other day. Changed metering rods and dropped a jet size in the front barrels. Made alot of difference. On another note im keeping my eye on it but i believe my car is using oil. I checked my oil and was 2 quarts low!!!!! Granted it had been awhile since i last checked it. But still bothers me. I plan to later rebuild the motor with new stuff but right now funds just dont permit it. Im waiting on a background check to hurry up and get over with so i can start a job at a local grocery store for min. wage.... yay but its a job and i can walk there from my house so it saves for gas. Maybe things will pick up for me. Only time will tell. Thats all i got for now.

What kind of carb did you have again? -- And what jet sizes are u using now?

Hey man, Its a Edelbrock Performer 600 CFM. Im running a size smaller jets in the front. Sees to work great for me.

Heres a good update. On Friday i did alittle shopping and finally got the tool i have been waiting for. Here in the next week or so i plan to start working on the bottom of the floor pans. Cleaning and repainting. Running new fuel and brake lines. That way when the spring time hits i can finish body work and paint it. Heres my new toy.

Ingersoll Rand Model SS5L5
5 HP 60 Gal.
18.1 CFM @ 90 PSI

Should do great with painting cars which is the whole point that i bought such a big one. Just imagine all the restored cars in that tank just waiting to be sprayed out of it lol

I need to get some money back together for christmas and then save and get to work on my floors. Im not really sure what tools to use on the floors yet tho. Drill and wire wheels? My main issue is grease from an old oil leak. Should i completely strip the floors if the paint is still shiney on the bottom? Thanks guys.

Are the floor pans in need of replacement? If not, I'd try degreasing them first and see what the original paint looks like. Might not be as bad as you think once the dirt and grease is removed. You can use some industrial degreasers to get most of it off.

Hey 76 TypeLT,
Not at all. I have very minor surface rust and a few small pin holes. Any degreaser you recommend? Thanks man. -Matt

Wow, you're cars looking sick, I looked through the entire thread and read just about everything! I'm going to look at a few cars soon, hopefully getting a 79 like yours though, can't wait to start restoring it
