Hey gang,
Well its finally getting warmer (thank goodness) so I have been out in the garage getting misc stuff done. Im happy to announce that I have my powder coating set up back and functional.... just dont have any of my commonly used powder coat colors LOL

Today was nice out so I put the rear bumper out in the sun and started wet sanding it with 220. This bumper had 3 layers or paint / primer on it. Sure wears the finger prints down. I still have quite a ways to go but its looking so much better.

Weather permitting I will continue sanding until it is stripped. Then I might start on on the flares or front bumper. Im not sure yet as I have a few different options to work on. But the most important part of this update is... I'M BACK AT IT BABY!

Not a huge update today but I sanded on the rear bumper a few hours today. Ive gotten about 2/3rds of it clean now. I took the DA sander to knock down some of the thicker stuff but left enough to protect the urethane. I hope to have it clean sanded by the weekend.... we will see though. My powder coat should be here Saturday so in the next few days I will be doing some powder coat again. So glad spring is almost here!

Howdy Matt

Haven't looked at your stuff for a while. Good to "see" you.

How's like in the sheriff department? It must be coming up to your first anniversary.

Looks good! I'm starting to shop around for an old electric oven/stove unit to put in my garage to do some powder coating as well.

Hey man. Well last June the new sheriff decided he didnt want me around and forced me to resign. I was annoyed for a while but honestly I feel like I have time to do the things I enjoy again. For the time being I'm back doing the construction gig.

Man its worth it. Its pretty easy and you can get some good results from it too.

roll with the flow

I know the feeling of enjoying the freedom to get more car time. I had to just recently (last week) choose between doing what really makes me happy ( working on the car) or pursuing a career path.

I would come home at night, not unhappy but definitely not "enthused with a joy de vive" one might say.

I'd go out and get a few hours in on the car and I'd be so excited I couldn't get to sleep thinking about the next thing to do.

Monday I just didn't go "back there" I went and worked on my car, been there all week. Great days! very relaxing.

Matt you have inspired MANY, Many people with your build thread. You have helped people you will never meet in ways you'll never know. That is your Dharma my friend.

Thanks man. My lack of progression lately has discouraged me but in the last 3 days I have sanded off 85% of the 4-6 layers or paint on my rear bumper cover and finished my radio box for the glove box. Im going to keep pushing forward and get this thing done. One baby step at a time.

That bumper will weigh 10 lbs less after you are done with it.

Do you think you will go back into law enforcement?
lol i bet it will. My finger prints are almost worn off LOL. Honestly im not really sure. Id like to do something more with restoring cars or custom painting etc. That would be something I would be thrilled to do. But I suppose time will tell.
