I would like to apolojize if it was my comments that got the other post wacked. That was not my intention at all.
yeah, I whacked it. I was going to respond to your post, but I didn't want to go that way, so I killed it altogether.
Hey, you can't win 'em all, heh?
BUT, I think it is an accomplishment when someone gets pissed off. That's the whole point of Rock. FU and stick it to the MAN.

Okay. I finally have the time to respond to your theory ZS10. I had 12 hour shifts the last 2 days and was only on for a very short time last night. But I've got 4 days off now so here we go....

I actually listened to the whole song, the chorus, that was cookie monster...

First of all, kudos for being open enough to new music that you actually listened through the song. Lots of people I'm sure turn off a lot of the tunes that I post.
Next I have to say that our definitions of "Cookie Monster" vocals are obviously not the same. I guess I'd define it more as the low sounding "gargling" that a lot of the music I listen to has. To me this didn't have that so that's why I thought you might be more inclined to like it. Oh well....

No talent showing solos, or interesting riffs of any of the three distinct instruments, other than the siren sounds at the begining. .5 point

I have to agree with this part. That song is definitely more along the "let's just see if we can get something catchy together" lines now that I listen to it again as I'm typing this.

As for "my theories on music", I'm just very opinionated. My parent used to glue the knobs on the radios when I was a kid so I couldn't change it from the country station.

That, my friend, borders on child abuse! :p I can't stand country either so at least we see eye-to-eye there;)

The C/M trip...I do try to listen to the songs when they get linked/posted, but it usually takes very little to ascertain the lack of tallent, and I do apolojize, but there is so much real talent out there that I couldn't be botherd with the Strep Throat Sound, or the I'm Confused and Should be Shot themes.
Pardon me, I can't sound like that, or play any musical instrument for that matter, despite a family where everyone can and does jam occaisionally and some teach other members of this very board music (guitar I believe) lessons. So mabey that sound does quallify as talented, but that would be like me claiming to be a talented car builder.

Perhaps it's just the songs that I'm posting but I feel that there is quite a bit of talent within this genre. I think that it's not as apparent is because a bunch of the tunes I like to post are break-through or up-and-coming bands. They don't have the finely tuned sound that you're going to hear on most radio stations. And personally, that's the way I like it. I don't listen to radio anymore because I get tired of the repetition on it. Those bands may have "made it" in 98% of the publics' eye but not so much in mine. Bands that I would consider having "made it" would be the ones that are booking small venues every weekend. Playing shows and touring almost non-stop. A ton of these bands are like that. It just sucks that I have to rely on the internet or the cable music channels to hear them instead of seeing them live!!:(

I try not to diss anyone elses taste in music or give my opinion unless its asked for, but I can't help but think, no wonder you're depressed, If I listend to that I'd be depressed too!

I'm not sure if you were thinking that I'm depressed here or not. But I can tell you this. This music is what I play when I am down and it pulls me out of depression almost all of the time. Music is my therapy and anti-drug (although I smoke). I remember in the first thread when you listed your theory you had something about "picking up the album on their way to rehab" (or something along those lines.). I don't know if you're aware of it or not but many "hard core" and punk bands nowadays are straight edge. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straight_edge) Meaning that most likely the fans are going to these shows for the music. Not to get messed up and such. I think that excessive drinking/drug use is more prevalant in the "clubbing" scene than at a "hard core" show!! I'm sorry if you truly feel that the only people that listen to this music are drunks and druggies. But like I said before, I think it's more about the music or the "therapy" that it induces in the fans.

It is just music, and this is just my personal perspective. I don't mean to influence anyone or tell them that they're tastes are wrong or bad. My tastes are different, and you are welcome to make fun of them all you want to!
Cheers!

I'm aware that you are just expressing your own perspective and the way you did it was taken as just that. I just wanted you to have my perspective as well. Mainly because I do feel very strongly about music in general. From being raised having melodies sung to me by Mom, to joining the school band in 7th grade and playing baritone and tuba through 12th grade, to now being an avid music listener/collector. To say that metal is all I'm about would be an ignorant statement (Note: I'm not saying you said that but just don't assume it either:) In fact, my tastes cover everything from classical to techno, from Mariah Carey to Mortician.

All in all, like you said, it's just music and there's bound to be people that enjoy something different. But to me, that's what it's all about. :)

I like it, it's pretty good but maybe a bit generic sounding in that I could come up with a few other bands that they sound very similar to.
Not to take anything away from the band's talent, they have a very clean sound.
