I just ordered this transmission cooler, I'm getting high temp's when lugging around below the stall speed of the torque converter. Anyone know of a reason I shouldn't reverse route the flow through this aux cooler first, then to radiator? I believe the higher temp transmission oil hitting the radiator first is why I'm seeing high water temp.

I spoke with Flex A Lite yesterday, tech guy says this unit has a built in switch now. I'm also using a smaller stacked plate cooler as an auxiliary cooler now, so I did consider using those two and eliminating the radiator. Where I noticed the problem was going up a mountain at a very low speed, and the converter never locking up. I've reinstalled the a/c system and it's all not real happy on 90*+ days.

You can add a circuit to lock the converter in 3rd gear with a toggle switch.
The transmission suppliers call it a "towing circuit'.
(It bypasses the 4th gear pressure switch in the transmission.)
I included that circuit in my 200-4R but have never really needed to use it.

Not sure if it's a solution for you but an option to consider.

Turning off the A/C during long, slow uphill climbs would help too as the condenser is dumping a lot of heat right in front of the radiator.

Right now, I don't have a trans temp gauge, something I'm going to install. I didn't have the a/c on going up the mtn, just watched the water temp climb higher than if I were in stop and go traffic. I'm using a set of LS fans, ECP radiator, so I know I have air and water flow. With a 2.8 - 3K stall going slowly up the hill, constantly under acceleration and below stall speed, I'm assuming the transmission fluid is getting hotter than normal. I have a small stacked plate cooler installed, but I don't think the radiator, even with the aux cooler, could keep up.

What's a good trans temp gauge and what's the best place to install it.

As for trans temp gauge I'm running a Autometer sport comp 2-5/8 electric gauge

Your coolant temps are hotter because hot transmission fluid sharing the same radiator . If you just run a dedicated transmission cooler both engine coolant and transmission fluid will be much cooler

My transmission builder requested that my trans temp was best monitored from the converter " out" port . Using this location you will be able to notice temp increases faster , spot transmission issues quicker

Here's my B&M #70274 13"x11.5" plate cooler trans temp location and autometer gauge

Really not trying to stick more gauges in if I can help it. I have the Pro Flo 4 and monitor all that from my cell phone. Unfortunately, Eddy doesn't provide any extra input channels.
