I just got a great deal on Elgin Cams E-902-P (GM140 off road) $40 new in the box...

My question is simple, (or so I think), can I use some kind of roller lifter on this cam or do I have to use the solid lifters?

that's a blueprint or replacement grind for the factory GM#140 mech flat tappet cam like what i've got in my motor

also this is a pretty wild cam with rev limit from 3500-7200rpm 257/269 @.050 ,112LSA and will idle at 1100rpm

You'll have to run solid flat tappet lifters. As stated above, that cam is pretty wild and needs compression, standard trans or high stall converter, good valve springs, screw in studs, etc. to run correctly.

12:1 Comp for a 350 CI / 5.13 rear gears with a 29" tire on your Camaro and a 4 speed.

The Valve spring for the 140 cam is the 142 spring. It is the Brown stripe spring. It is also the Generic Z28 spring.
The Z28 used standard Chevy springs on the 30/30 cam.

So you are fine using that Generic spring or look in Crane's catalog for their recommendations on their blueprint series cam what spring they use.

What does Elgin recommend for the spring?

I have not called Elgin yet, but that is on my list of things to do.....
I am experimenting on my 383... and might I add, on a mighty slim budget...

My plan is to combine this cam, the offy cross-ram I picked for relatively cheap, and a valvetrain that can handle trips up into the higher rpm range.....
For no other reason than to say its mine and there's nothing around where I live even remotely like it.....

Im just trying get my valvetrain parts together so I can at least get it to a point where I can sit the intake on my engine....
