My basic idea is to make this trans work for now. I'm extremely tight on money and I can afford to go with anything else. Also I don't care if this thing flies right now, everything can be changed later on. So nobody has any good info on relocating the shifter?

Ahhhhh I had that basic idea once ... busted my as to make something work and in the end, I ended up undoing all that mess and going with a more normal setup. Why make that work now and run the risk of undoing it later??

You'll probably need to setup something like this:

Well its nice to know that almost all of you aren't being any assistance at all. I understand that you all doubt that the trans will work but we will see. Ill get it figured out on my own.

It will work, but will need too much work modifying everything to get it to work.

Yes you can put a straight-8 cylinder or V12 in a Camaro, but will obviously be way too much work compared to dropping in a SBC or even LS-based motor.

All the guys are doing is trying to help you avoid having to bust your a$$ making that fit then end up having a dump truck geared trans. Then not liking it, taking it back out and being back to square one.

I told you some guys that extended t56 shifters. I'd still like to see the shifter in question. Judging by the one link above the mods they did may not apply.

Anything can be made to work. But the cheapest way often isn't. BTDT.

I still want to know your rear gear ratio. I hope you have something numerically less than 2.73 to match ok with that granny 1st gear.

As far as I can tell the truck trans has the better gear ratios out of the two different setups they offered. I'll get it to work one way or another. I've never seen it done before and the outcome may not be as bad as predicted, but time will tell. Ill put a picture up of what I'm working with tomorrow sometime. Thanks for looking out for a fellow camaro owner, but let me be the test rat on this one.

You're right; it's better than the ratios in a NV4500, but that's like saying a Dana 110 in a Chevette is better than a Rockwell.

If you want to do a remote shifter mechanism atop that tower of a shift mechanism, copy the aftermarket GTO unit(s) that have a stub pivoted above the forward location, a rail leading back to a secondary pivot, and an upwards pointing stub for the shifter stick. All the added fulcrum points add potential for shift-sloppiness.
