Hello, I have a 1971 rs. I cleaned my seat belts the other day, and I seem to be missing a belt or two. I have the front seat belts (two each) with buckles on the ends. But only one in the plastic sheath for the lap belt if I remember right. And the two shoulder harness, which were stowed with two chrome metal loops that ran along the inside of the roof line. At least that's what my 72 Z had back in the day. so in short I need two shoulder harnesses with the chorme hangers, and one belt with the buckle (male)chrome and of course a black plastic seath. Thanks Bob P.S. my car is going to have Black interior The belts I have are black even though the car had a green interior.

I'll take a stab at this, but it's not really clear what you are asking here - or what is missing. Are you asking for someone to identify a vendor for a replacement belt? Most of us use Morris Classics.

First, check out this thread. It provides a little information about the seat belts for your model and year.

Here are the pics, from that thread. Using the pics below, what exactly do you think you are missing?

Thanks for the pic's But I think you are missing something, the bottom lap beltfor the front seats on the " male" side has plastic sheath on it. if you had a console it has a place to stow the belt buckle when not in use. But the other side of the belt, the closest to the door should have a plastic sheath on it I think, maybe I'm wrong. I noticed that the front bolt of your seat is showing when it should have a plastic cover, maybe yor seats were out at one point? Thanks Bob

That isnt my car - it was just one of the more pertinent posts I found dealing with seatbelts that actually had pictures. (I just took a stab at this since no one else had responded.)

My guess is that yes, there are sleeves missing for the belts closest to the door. I think you are looking for this.

I'll let you guys in a little secret that I discoverd when I had my business, we had a five gallon bucket with tide laundry soap and water. I had some seat belts out of one of my work trucks they needed cleaning, so I figured what the hell and dropped them into the bucket and let them soak for a while. Well a week went by, I forgot that I put them in there so I ran to the bucket and pulled them out, and then to the sink to rinse them off to see if they were damaged. To my suprise they looked brand new they were tan in color. Then I took carb & choke cleaner( in a spraycan ) sprayed it on a terry cloth and then wiped the buckles and they looked brand new.Be careful with the carb cleaner because it is melting the surface of the plastic, I did the same with my lower plastic dash components, you have move quickly and don't stop with rag on the plastic. Bob P.S.The plastic must be as clean as possible, I scrubed mine with dish soap and a plastic brush.

Hmm. That sounds more like the sleeves on the inner side (between the seat and the console), which are pretty long, but I dont think these are "correct" for your car.

I E-mailed the guy with 1970 Z that only has 1100 miles on it, don't know if you heard about it, it was in storage all this time. Anyway he e-mailed back with pics, and his car has the plastic sheath on the out board belts that go all the way to the end near the chrome ehd of the buckle, but it looks like it has the recoil in the end next to the bolt. Thanks again Bob
