I've got the turbo bug real bad. The more research I do, the more variables I come up with. So I have many issues/questions. Although most questions I researched myself and figured out, some info I have not found yet.
I was looking at a 400sbc based motor with a Turbonetics, Super-T Series, T-72 with a .81 A/R.

Which vacuum/pressure regulated fuel pump, Mallory or Aeromotive?

Is an MSD box with retard the best way to go?

Are all blowoff valve brands equal as long as they are matched to pressure and volume? Is it the same for wastegates?

Who has a good book/manual for blow through carb conversion?

Where can you buy a quality header? Are these any good?

These kits were interesting also.

I love Grapeape Racing's site. It is almost too much data to take in at once. I read it like 3X before I understood the whole picture.

I personally don't know anyone that has the BBS stuff but have read nothing but good things about them. You can save some bucks by using a Master Power turbo.About 600 bucks for a T70 and a little more for the GT45.I have a complete old school Martin kit that's OK on a stock engine, using a small E flow Rajay it'll make about 425 -500 at the flywheel but I also have a Holset HX55 that I can't wait to use but I need to build a stouter motor first.

I think the crossover point is about 500-550HP. After that it seems specialized parts internally and externally on the motor start to become necessary. From looking at camcojb's cars, it becomes obvious that things get real trick when the HP#s get real big. My motor is 523HP/406in./NA already and I think if it puts out any more than 550HP, it is going to take alot more money or become a grenade.
I had a friend who had a '68 Cougar with an old Rajay turbo in the 80's and it was a beautiful thing to spool up in a V8.
My reason for a turbo is that we have emissions laws and I cannot pass with current setup. It would pass easy with turbo cam and compression and still make good power.
I think, as usual, I'm dreaming out loud with the Super T-72. It is the beginning of a 650+HP setup.

dcozzi, log onto www.turbomustangs.com they have MANY turbo cars on there, not all F*rd's either ;)

I'm in the middle of building my TT 400 SBC as well.....using 2 T70 Turbo's

As for the fuel pump.....depending on the HP, people start off with the Aeromotive 1000 & Aeromotive #1304 regulator......then ~800HP they go over to the Magnafuel 500 pump + Aeromotive #1302 regulator.

Do a search over there, many of your questions will be answered.

I was just on Stroked-Z's thread about twin turbos and his car looks like it is coming along nicely. I asked a few questions there as well.
I also was just on the turbomustang site reading. Lots of opinions there and some real good insights.
Just got 2 - T04B90 Garretts for real cheap. Since they have a .96A/R ex., some were saying they would not spool up fast enough for a motor that does not rev super high. I think they will hit fine.
Stroked-Z, thank you for sharing the fuel pump info with me.

Also Dcozzi,

I have a contact who does headers....did mine.....very fair price (under $750 shipped)

This is one of the BEST prices on headers out there,.......and they fit great.

Headers for under 750? they must be mild steel rather than Stainless then. I am in the slow process of process of twin turboing my 400 sbc based 70 camaro. Im using twin Precision 63 turbos and planing on using 2 Walbro 340 intank pumps with the second pump coming on via a boost switch so I its not circulating 7 million gal of fuel per min at all times :')

back to the headers deal, you can make the same power with a set of flipped upside down exhaust manifolds . Not as pretty but they are compact and hold up well.

Yes the headers are mild steel, 3/8" flanges, T4 flange & wastegate flange all built into them. The primaries are 16gu steel as well, all tig welded.

I'm very happy with the fitment, look, and quality that went into them. Worth every $.

Problem with flipped shorty's, is its hard to find a big tube shorty with good thickness flanges & primaries on them....also there will be a big 90* bend @ the collector where you need to weld in a pipe to connect the turbo flange. The turbo's need to sit a good distance away from the hood, and our hood designe comes down about 1" on each side of the fenders......basically i wasnt crazy about it.

Talked to a turbo owner (import guy, take info. with grain of salt of course) and he said the .96 A/R will take forever to spool up. My turbos will not start creating good boost until 5000RPM and, if my motor does not rev to 8000RPM+, the ones I have are useless. Live and learn and sell, sell ,sell. I was hoping that all that exhaust funneled through such a small inlet hole would create decent velocity. I guess it is like a 3.3L 4-cyl (1/2 a 400sbc).
I'll talk to the manufacturer. They'll know the real scoop.

Stroked-Z, If it turns out they will work, I would like to move forward and look into those headers. From your pic, they look well done. Mail me his info at dcozzi1@cox.net.
