so cal
I understand " who cares what he says " and " don't let it bother you ", **** that ****. Buy the nitrous put some drag radials and cal tracs and go tear him a new one, let him spend the thousands plus payments and void warranty to keep up when all you need is a thousand and a half  .

It'll be fun talking about it over a few beers after its done.

He is just a mutual friend of one of my good friends who just got off of deployment from Afganistan. Not someone i hang out with regularly. He is one of those guys who i don't waste my breath on for reasons you guys have already stated, i am VERY proud of what i've done to this car, but i'd rather let it do the talking than my mouth. Yeah its a bit of a pecker measuring contest but all of this is stuff i want to do to the car anyways, so i'm just using this as an excuse to do it ;)

For those that asked, im running stock LS1 clutch which ill need to replace with something better, and the motor is EFI, and i've got cutouts at my disposal. David, had it on the dyno a few weeks back, thats where the 315/355 number came from! Gonna race him down at redline if you wanna come watch!

Muscl (or anyone), how do you get effective weight transfer? What factors into that?

So....
4.10's
Subframe connectors
Might entertain different leaf springs
Upgraded clutch
Tires
Spray or H/C swap (probably gonna do a H/C swap, i don't know enough about the gas to feel comfortable using it)

Biggest issue is the Bette has traction control. Its going to make him a better driver automatically. That's going to be hard to beat.....

+1 He has a computer working for him straight from the light. All he has do do is mash the pedal and let the computer do the work. Going to be a lot of work and money to match that. That proves nothing except he could spend some money to buy an automated 1/4 mile car. You have to build and design everything to make it work and there are so many variables you are working with. You need a sub 12 second car to be sure to crush him and it will take a lot of track time to get it dialed in.

Consider dusting him in an Auto x event it might be more satisfying....he can have all the power and the finest everything, but can he drive? the automaton he drives can't drive itself through the course (although he still has traction and stability control) by itself.... You don't need any more power than you have already and can put the money into suspension, brakes and wheels and tires which will be much more useful on an everyday basis as well providing you a real strong foundation for a cruiser and corner carver....I am sure M. Pozzi would give you some great advice if you asked.

Your call, your money! Good luck, focus on building a car you want, not one to beat him......If you want a dragster, go for it and build a car that will give you years of reliable fun, not something to beat just one D1ck.

jb don't bother... the vette is it a stick or auto? (do they even make auto vettes? idk) Getting a stick car to launch is SUPER hard. Are you experienced at drag racing? is he? One of the scenarios will be stalling it off the line...or roasting the tires. The vette is a stout car and even with a tool driving it it'll still run very low 13's.

Here is how I can see you winning.
1. He stalls off the line
2. you kill him on the tree (+1/2 second)
3. Put some nitrous on it
4. Its an 1/8 mile race

The only thing you have to say to him when he opens his yap again is "How much is your monthly payment? For every monthly payment you make I could make mine 1/2 sec faster" and be done. Convert it to $ per horsepower. Good luck and stay safe.

I bought an m5 Bmw and its extreamly fast but I still have tons more fun in my stock 1980 camaro 4speeds
The camaro can take abuse and make good smoke and drift show and if something break no big deal. Parts are cheap. I bet he can't do that in the vett because a paint chip will be too much for him to handle. Just like my m5. It's fast and every thing but I can't afford abusing it and have fun with it. Too expensive. So why a drag race. Challenge him for a drift and burn out fun :) he will lose

Auto, he says he uses the "manual mode" mainly, but yeah... its an auto.lol
I have a couple passes under my belt (not in this car) so no, not that experienced. Is it just a "feel" thing with launching a stick car?

I kind of like 8pack's idea, the car is already sort of geared towards that... You guys are right, i probably can't win in a straight line unless i dump some serious, serious cash...

David, why did they close it down?

He will probably be slower using the paddle shifters than if he let the transmission shift itself. I always ran faster letting our SS shift itself.

Some investor bought Redline, kept it open for awhile, then closed it.

He supposedly has other plans for the land although they haven't been made public. It's rumored that a truck stop is going there.
