Subframe weight??

Hey, how heavy is the subframe w/ everything off of it? Can I load this thing on a trailer myself, to take to the powdercoater?:rolleyes:

Yes, you could move it by yourself. Just be carefull she doesn't fall on you.

You could stand it up on end an "walk" it to you truck. It's not that heavy.

According to Brian Callahan's weight database,a bare subframe for a 71 weighs 134 lbs.

A lot of people should be able to lift and move them.

A second reason I'm responding to this is you need to prep the frame as much as you can unless the other place is doing it to your satisfaction. Most frames even after being blasted will have welding slag balls on them and to make cleaning a powder coated frame easier, not to metion having it look nicer after that, these need to be removed. Some will knock right off while some may require something like a sanding disc or a grinder. I would also look at the welds and dress them if needed. Fire up a mig welder and add to welds if you want to and dress them with a grinder and sanding discs. The factory was not really concerend about looks on a lot of parts. Approach having it coated like having a car body refinished. Make it nice now before the final finish is on it.

im 5'7'' and weigh 135 i could pick mine up, move , and flip it by my self. I doubt your smaller than I am , so with a little effort it should be no problem

no Mike, you are the size of one my legs!!! LOL Got it out and did juggling tricks w/ it, it was so light.

Actually asked tis question before I got it out, so I had no idea what to expect, thanks for all the good feedback. Off to the powdercoater this week, w/ the crossmember and inner fenders
