Ok fellas Im ready to find my th400 so I can complete my project. Problem is Chevy made so damn many of these. What years and model vehicles should I stay away from while looking for my rebuildable trans, and which ones should I be looking for? I dont wanna get stuck with anything that wasnt the best th400 made. For all those who are wondering why Id put a heavy th400 behind my Bully Dog 350-4bolt sbc I say..... BURNOUTS!

The early pre-71 ones had the drums that allow you to drop in a 34 element sprag for 2nd gear. Also the motorhome cases were a bit stiffer if you can find them. Otherwise it's a wash in terms of what's better to use. If you get into one and need help email me and I'll do what I can to walk you through it... there are some easy tricks to making them live longer and work well.

I was told that Corvette and trucks have extra clutches (not sure of the right name) for 1st and 2nd gear, is this not true?

but if you build them up it don't really matter where it came from.

get a short shaft, as long shaft are known to break easier.

stage two th400 DRAGULA is gettin closer

Well here's what I ended up with ----> Ebay #300034132223 <---- Im going down with the wifey tomorrow morning to pick it up :D I hope its as listed. Im prety confident it will be. Any suggestions as to what I might want to check or modify before I get it in the car? What about kick-down actuaters? Or should I just down-shift & up-shift alot. I have the factory ratchet bump shifter. Push up and to the right and it wont jump the gear. Is bolt on yoke or slide on yolk my best option? Do I have to get my driveshaft modified or rather shortend? Whats the biggest U-joint I can have fitted? Will this trans require more vacume to operate than my previous th350? If you can answer any these questions for me, feel free to do so. Any answers at all are appreciated fellas :brightide
