So having problems with the transmission, oh joy. Its an Automatic

The car goes great into reverse and can kick it fast.

But as soon as i try Drive, its like the car doesnt want to engage.

You can hear and feel it go into Reverse and drive, but it just isnt driving.

I dropped the trans pan and replaced the filter and gasket on it last week.

If i can get the car going down hilll, I can get the car to speed up with gas ect.

Going up hill is a no go. I would have to be already going to make it up one.

It coul be my shifter is the issue. It isnt lockin into place when i pick D, D2, or D1.

Oh and i cant get into D1, Not sure how large of a issue that is on a scale of 1-10

So im thinking either i need a trany rebuild or could it be the torque converter? Im not exactly knowledgeable with transmissions.

you can try adjusting your linkage so that it clicks into all the detents first. Silly question, but is it low on fluid? be sure to check it with in the engine warm and running.

If its slipping, its in the clutches or band, driving it will only make it worse.

Time for a transmission overhaul. Which transmisson is it? Depending on what it is will set the cost of rebuilding it. TH350 can be the least expensive (because there are so many of them out there).

Its just a TH350 stock. I have the build sheet from when it was originally bought and it says
28 Engine: KS E
29 Trans: TF
30 Speedo Gear: 22GRA-T-

Then at bottom of build sheet:
LM1 350 4 BBL for the engine
<M38 3spd CBC Tran

Would looking at the torque converter be a good idea before replaceing / a rebuild on the tranny?

The TC could be the problem, having Reverse but no Drive is a common problem with them yea?
