My car has the fiberglass cowl hood and had always had a tough time keeping the hood open, It almost feels heavier than stock...

Anyways I have been trying to find some new hood springs for it. 2 times now I have ordered what we're supposed to be 1970 through 1981 replacement hood springs, but both times have gotten the units from OER that are generic and very difficult to put on, they also look much different than the stock ones. I tried using spacers to put them on but when I tried closing the hood they seemed like they were distorting the hinge andbpushingbthe hood upbat the rear so I took them off, the OER units are longer with a much beefier spring... I jst assumed that my car had the stock hinges and springs but maybe the hood came with different hinges and springs?

Anyone else have this issue or have any input?

If you have a fiberglass hood order a set of spring from jegs or harwood for a fiberglass hood.
Great info, ordered some of the high tension springs fron Harwood, now hood stays up no problem..thanks!
