I placed the stripping temporarily in the channel and I didn't want to force it, but it seems the OER stuff is to big, nowhere near closing. Not sure which way the lip of the seal faces.

metro, lip point out. tight when fresh have your decklid adjusted before putting on then sit in the sun with lid closed after install that will help it settle in. 3M black weatherstrip adhesive, just a thin bead on channel, dry fit first.

I hated cleaning all that junk out of the channel,so i just put 3m soft black in the corners.
It fit so well,and looks good still,was done in 2012.

On my 71 I use soft seal
And for your question about spoiler caution on my I cut the rubber caution just 1/8 and sand for nice looking And now it contact on quarter in same time when the trunk lock
