Was watching some Door Car racing on YouTube yesterday and a lot of racers were using this

WTH is a .......... Boost scramble or Nitrous scramble ????

I'm not new to Drag Racing by any means and have been since the late 70's but this scramble button has me confused !!!

If I understand the "scramble" button usually refers too the last ditch effort to win a race. Usually "scramble" on a turbo car is more boost in case car next to you is really close or about to pass you same with nitrous 3rd or 4th kit just in case..................

.

We call it an "OH poo" button because when running a dial in class, you usually can feel a bad 60'.
So you add a small 2nd or 3rd stage of N2O on a button and if you bobble or spin at the launch, you hit it trying to hit the number.
They are just doing it with added boost.

It's the same thinking as the 3 hits at the tree system.
My control box has 3 launches, their top bulb, my top bulb, my bottom bulb.
The computer reads the times and launches on the quickest reaction.
It's an in run cheat but it's all happening so damn fast, I never use it.
I leave off the 1st bulb I see and just deal with it.

The scramble button on a turbo car is probably a button that slams the waste gates shut to spike the boost for a big finish line blast. These cars have electronically controlled waste gates that control the boost as the car goes down the track. That or it might be a nitrous kit on a turbo car. Nitrous on a turbo car makes sick crazy power but usually destroys everything.

What Rich stated. ;) My son runs a 2002 Camaro in the True Street Class in South Texas, San Antonio, Austin, Houston, etc. He has a built LSX with a 90.mm Turbo. He retards the boost on launch to avoid spin and brings it in at a predetermined point. It`s all CPU controlled including max boost on the run. But........with the " button " he can add a few lbs. if needed. The class is a heads up, pro tree, run what you brung class. His car is street legal tagged, inspected and is driven on very short, maybe 20 miles round trip on occasion.

Oh...I was going to add, to give you an idea of how fast these legitimate real cars are....we had his Camaro out last Saturday night in SA,Tx. His car does have a chute and he ran the full 1/4 in, test n tune, Chevy vs Ford, 3 of his 5 passes and they were well in excess of 150 mph....sub 9`s in the 1/4 and sub 6`s in the 1/8th.
