When I test drove my 73, the car would run for about a block and then die. Found about 4 hoses that weren't connected(vac leaks) Then the trany wouldn't shift properly. Found out the cable was only held together with a paperclip! The original white interior was now brown. Duct tape on the front passenger rubber brakeline(I wonder why I barely have any brakes?) Oh yeah I almost forgot the paintjob. Whoever had painted the car used some expensive blue pearl that would turn a purple hue. Well they didn't bother taking any of the emblems off or any of the door moldings, so when I tried to take them off I found the car had been grandma gold. Then they forgot to paint the doorjambs, so they used a paintbrush to fix that problem. Hard to believe I took on this project.

My recently purchased 79z has:
~No horns(horn wires cut) or horn hardware for the steering wheel.
~No Wiper motor, and only the passenger wiper blade.
~It has a home made console with a make shift power window switch bracket and toggle switches.
~Power window harness cut.
~Wrong Auto. Shifter
~Door panels just hanging on the doors without any hardware on them.
~Just found the Power Door Lock switches inside the doors. No place on door panels to mount them. Wrong panels!
~No bolts for Glove Box but have the Glove Box Door.
~Cowl Screen but no bolts.
~No Dome Light (wiring cut)
~I also has the wrong rear end. Don't know the ratio yet but it is not a posi.

More could be mentioned but don't want to take up too much space.

But overall a good project car. Previous owner had completely redone the engine and trans. and also repainted. Paint job not prefect but not terrible either.

The Z should come together nicely though!!

For starters V6 229...
Half the computer is gone. All moldings are rotted. Wiring everywhere is either spliced or disconected. Crappy bondo job and paint to match. Aftermarket dash with a crooked instrument cluster. No cig lighter. Why they even replaced the radio is beyond me. Cracked center console. Missing trunk lid springs.
But someone had enough sense to realize the center caps and rings off an older Z were much much cooler.
All in all I love my 81 coupe. She isn't fast and she won't win any trophies but there is potential.
After all it's still a Camaro.

I'm glad I'm basically starting from scratch. I guess anything wrong with mine when it's done will be my own fault. Believe me nothing is going to be half-assed.

OK here are some things half assed.

1. a quarter skin screwed and bondoed over a rusty one
2. 3/4" thick bondo on rear valance.
3. traction bars welded (thats what I said, welded) on.

How's this?...76 camero was painted red but comes off with a power washer, both lower rear quarters bondo'd with metal screen and pieces of paper and plastic for support. Rear speaker deck and behind rear seat hack sawed to death with holes big enough to put your head through. Glued black denim patches over door lock holes in door panel. I don't know what they painted the dash with but there's lint and fuzz stuck to it and the original color is showing through. Did they ever paint the 76 two tone dark blue top half with silver blue bottom?

ClovisHye, I believe you maybe the winner of the half assed award. I think I might try the denin patches on my door panels. RETRO look for sure! I think the will match my sidepipes.
BTW, was the badging on the car "Camero", because that would really win you the half assed award.

Fortunately pretty much nothing. That's why I bought it. The factory smog equipment and even the computer are still in place and still function. Really the only thing wrong with it is a badly faded cheap paint job.

Lets see... underneath the dash was a rats nest thanks to the previous owner who didn't know how to properly splice connect wires. Battery is currently grounded to alternator, I believe it's supposed to be grounded to exhaust manifold bolt. Radiator was not mounted to anything. Driver-side seat was being held in by self-tappers. And had these badassed speaker boxes:
