Went to look at a 68 chevelle today, and after talking with the guy I noticed a Camaro sitting in the corner under dust and a bunch of other stuff.

Turns out its a 71 Camaro SS. Said its a true SS and he's got the title for it. The car is in pieces. Completely dissassembled. As far as rust it looks rust free (a few small spots in the toe boards and he has patches already). The car is complete minus the motor and trans. It was a 4 speed car, PS & PB, no A/C, Tach dash, bucket seats, etc. The subframe has been blasted, painted, all new bushings and steering components replaced.

I've always wanted a early 70's camaro, (already have a 69, 79, 92, and 2002).

My questions is, what's it worth? It has a 10 bolt rear in it, not sure if its the factory rear or not. Body looks straight. He said its all there minus the motor/trans which im not concerned about since its going to end up with an LS motor like the rest of my toys LOL.

Thanks for your help guys!

In that condition, 4k only if it was #'s matching. Now your paying for the title that shows it an SS. Other than that it is a camaro that needs a drive-train

I'd have to say more like 2500.00. If its all there, heck the pieces are worth that parted out. If you tried to buy all the little pieces that y0ou would need to finish a 71 SS because a car was missing "things" , it would add up quick. So a solid complete, motor/trannt less car would be fair at $2500.............JMHO,,,,,Steven

I paid $3500, plus shipping for a piece of crap with no motor or tranny, it is an RS and I wanted that front end.............your looking at $1000.00 more than 2500...........if you want it, it aint to bad. I have a TON of bodywork to do.....this car has little...............I'm sure you can get him to $3000. You just began the dickering, let him sit on it and go back later. If its what you want then it won't be too bad a deal. Those years aren't gertting less scarce..............

I might sit on it and make him another offer here in a few weeks. The guy has a ton of cars. There was a pretty nice 67 chevelle ss sitting out in the weeds along with a 69 camaro, 68 chevelle, and a 70 nova. all are just rotting away. he did make the comment that he would probably never finish it due to lack of time and ambition.

If we cant make a deal, I can always find another.

Going back to check this out again in the morning. Hes going to move some stuff and pull it outside so we can get a good look at it. It's been in storage for 20 years. He wont budge off his $3500 price.

Guess we will see if i own my first early 70's camaro tomorrow
