ATT/Earthlink all work off of PPPoE around here which is basically your email address and password or email addresss and a network password for some att accounts, its entered into the router/modem and just authenticats with the their server.
The only service around in my area that requires the registering of the MAC ID is Comcast and Astound (both cable internet providers)
Gary S said:Correct. Registering MACs is a cable thing. The MAC isn't used with DSL. With DSL, you have a private line that goes to your house only, and they don't need to know your MAC.
First check with your provider that the modem/router you are trying to use is compatible with their service. If they say it is, you can replace your existing modem/router and enter your username and password and any other setup information you put in your original modem.
Has the wireless router been configured/setup yet? If you don't have an installation disk, visit the manufacturer's website for assistance how.Marks71BB said:I know how to connect the Wii to the internet, I was asking if the wireless router would work. And Andy, I tried running an Ethernet cable from the DSL to the wireless, and nothing happened.
This isn't a wireless router he is trying to connect. It is a DSL modem that has its own built in wireless router. You can't use two DSL modems on the same line at the same time.GoldenOne7710 said:All I did with mine was run an ethernet cable from my DSL modem TO my wireless router. On the back of the router, it has 1 internet (IN) and 5 (OUT) ports. .
Exactly as I understand. This isn't a wireless router he is trying to connect. It is a DSL modem that has its own built in wireless router
