WOW. She was even honest and owned up to the mistake unlike the majority of people would today! She actually owned her mistake and yet the board still fully intended to throw the book at her until the media coverage scared 'em and now they are backpedaling...that fries my bottom. Geez We all make mistakes and there was no malice or ill intent on her part - this is the kind of thing that propagates people lying and hiding the truth instead of telling the truth. I could even go so far as to understand a reprimand...but expulsion? Crazy

A simple scolding in the Principals office, then a conversation on previous hunting trips would have been the CORRECT thing to do.

Back in 94 a freind of mine brought a pistol to school to show another guy.He got busted with it in his locker. He got a 10 day suspension because he had removed the firing pin and left it at home.

When I was in High School (in Montana) there were always trucks in the parking lot with rifles in the back window. We would hunt on the way to school...hunt on the way home. Lot of people move here cause they love it...then do everything to make it like the place they left. Stupid really.

On a side note....it goes the other way too. Not sure if anyone heard about the 2 Walmart employees who weren't getting along in Billings MT. The smaller one was getting picked on at work by a larger guy. Went out to his car at lunch brought back in a gun. Guy started on him again....shoots the guy in the head. Guy lived (not sure what he was shooting) but they guy doesn't get in any trouble with the Castle Law. Couple weeks ago some guys were breaking into a ladies car in an alley...she went out with a rifle to scare them...saw they had a gun and shot one of them dead. She didn't so much as go to jail.

What evidence is there that the school board intended to 'throw the book' at her? I think this whole deal got blown way out of proportion by folks who don't really know what is going on but feel the need to react in some knee-jerk fashion.

This:

"The expulsion threat, in fact, also was included in a letter the superintendent sent the family, her attorney, Sean Frampton, told WND."
