Like most of us we just do what can afford and do on own .And help and advice from our friends. Then save up money for things otherwise. If you look through the gallery a lot of things we do is just as good as the proffessionals,

Thanks for trying, besides notching the top of your frame was there any other space modifications you had to do? I have a corvette bracket to switch all accessories to the drivers side but that's a lot of work compared to a notch. Did you just use a grinder? Sorry for all of the questions and thanks for your help!!!

No worries, your very welcome. Other than the notch for the frame for the AC it will drop right in. The LT1 is based off the one piece rear main seal like the 87 and up small blocks. The head/intake design it different and not interchangeable with any other engines but the bolt pattern for the tranny, motor mounts are all the same and the 87 and up flywheel/flexplate can also be used if you don't have one from the LT1. My 4 speed linkage bolted right up and I used a 10 3/4 clutch out of an early 90's Corvette to mate up to my factory four speed. There is no issue bolting up the auto trans either. They do use D-port exhaust ports so be careful what headers you use if you go with headers. I hear the round header flanges still work as long as they are a certain size but with my turbo set up I didn't want to risk a leak and we custom made flanges. As far as I recall I didn't run in to any other issues with the motor itself, most of the challenges I ran in to were related to the turbo's. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask and I'll do the best I can to help you. Here is one of my favorite LT1 threads from supwicha, he has a lot of great info and did a really nice swap. https://www.nastyz28.com/threads/78-camaro-lt1-conversion-cali-smog-legal.275555/.

Outstanding info! Now the big decision we have to make...cut the notch or go with the corvette bracket. Thanks

I was very hesitant to cut mine at first but to try to keep the budget down I bit the bullet and went with the accessories I have. In the end I figured I can always weld the notch back up if I'm unhappy with it and for my application we ultimately weren't sure we could fit the drivers side turbo with the Corvette set up. I also like that my AC hoses were easier to route due to the compressor location but again that's probably because my AC lines didn't have to run by the exhaust like a normal header or exhaust manifold would be on the Camaro brackets. :)

Thanks for that thread a huge help! Do you have a couple of pics of your engine compartment? I know you're running a turbo but just to get a visual of what we are getting into.
