Yep it was on a track but no prep whatsoever to the track surface , hence the name " no prep race" .

that's bullsh*t as well

so they don't douse the track with VHT ***THAT DAY*** but they sure as hell have been doing it all season

and even if the track bite is not on the line they'll just roll their tires in it for a few hours

Im glad he's okay, I enjoy the show and realize its just a show. But what I dont understand in him building something with so much power, why stuff it in something with such a short wheelbase? I understand power to wieght ratio, but having to get the car to the finish line wins the race. The monte carlo looks like a handful and its got what a 116-118" wheelbase? Jim

The motor in the Nova is the same that was on the Sonoma . The Nova was really lightweight with it being right around 2500lbs

Doc's Street Beast runs a Fulton 706 cubic inch BBC with a sheet metal intake which runs split dominators . It has (3) kits on the motor but is drilled and tapped for a 4th kit

No Prep race is just that as in no chemicals or traction additive are sprayed on the track whatsoever . They only do a burn out to get the tires hot nothing else

Not
He got too far off center, to the right, and lost grip. Well he lost grip, went right and lost grip again.

I doubt you can launch that fast on a completely unprepped surface though. Must be prep from the day before. Hot tires only don't grip like that.

Yes, it's a stupid challenge for these guys to run 1200+ hp on a slick track - then everyone does a collective gasp when a $80k car gets rolled and someone gets hurt. The internet goes wild with every excuse in the book about how the car must've broke because Daddy Dave couldn't have lost control of the car because he is the best driver in the world, but the reality is - he lost control of a car by running it on a slick track on purpose. Darwin.

.

When I still raced at the local crap hole track, I rolled on the VHT the night before.
It made a HUGE difference, and I was able to be as consistent as at the real racetracks.
Now I only had 775-800 HP, nothing like those goofs racing on the streets, no prep events.

Hope Dave has a speedy recovery!

On the other hand the fact that the seatbelt tab broke off, Seat came loose and both nitrous bottles came out of the car makes me wonder about how well put together the car truly was.

There has been a LOT of speculation about Jeff Lut'z credibility as a builder - I hope he wasn't involved in the build, but he seems to be involved in that group. It's a serious thing to put your customers and friend's lives in the quality of your work. There should have been no reason for that seat to be completely loose after the crash.
