I'm "thinking" that finding TILT COLUMN Intermediate Shaft(s) wont be easy.........???

Picture of the flange on Tilt Intermediate Shaft ???
I think the intermediate shafts are available new, and or are available from the original donor car, and depending on year, a donor car from the same year as the tilt can offer an intermediate shaft even if not from a tilt car?

I like this thread, I have a 74 LT I would like to add tilt to, black. I've been holding onto a column someone gave me 40 years ago that came from a Fbird, for a future some day.

Any idea on who makes the best reproduction turn signal and tilt lever for a 70? And I read on 1 site that the turn signal is diff for tilt VS non tilt.???
I only read that in one place

Thanks

Ok let’s try this . I am going to use the 76 firebird tilt in my car that it came with . I have the original 70 but why not have tilt ! Does a 70 Camaro turn signal lever work on the 76 tilt? Or is it a different part ? And is a 76 for its tilt lever the same as a 70 Camaro appearance wise?

Turn and tilt levers are different but will interchange, from the dash to the wheel is identical. You'll need to change the turn switch electrical connector from the long later style to the short early, or buy an adapter. Unless someone crawls under the dash and knows what their looking at no one will have a clue.

Great thank you . It was in the car when I bought so it was all hooked up already.

Is there a diff turn lever for tilt VS non tilt?

No, tilt/non-tilt are the same. I think 69/70 used hard plastic knobs on the levers and 71 up used a soft rubbery plastic knob. Pontiac used a totally different lever. Your 70 turn will work fine but you'll need to buy a early style tilt lever. The reproduction levers look pretty good.
Also the later column uses metric bolts on the dash mounting bracket and steering wheel nut. If there missing you'll need to source some.

Ok great I will see if a 70 tilt lever works if that’s what you mean by early.

Can you use the metal lock ring on a 1970 steering column on a column that has the newer style plastic locking i.e. 76 Firebird? And I assume my 70 steering wheel will work in the 76 column? I have both columns and before I tear both apart I just wanna make sure I’m not wasting my time
