well guys i finally got my short block assembled..i ended up not getting it rebalanced (or checked) for a second time, but here she is...the RHS 383 is about to be back, hopefully long enough to make it all the way down the 1320 this time ;)

specs are:

383
stock 400 crank w/ studded mains
stock 400 rods w/ arp bolts
0.030 Speed Pro forged flattops
Howard's cam 250/256 @ 0.050 108 LSA
RHS vortecs
Hurricane intake
1 5/8 headers

im hoping to squeak into the 11's on motor this time before hooking to bottle up

the only difference in this setup and my last one was the cam...i went from a 258/266 @ 0.050 on a 105 LSA to the current one...im hoping to bring the powerband down a little bit, maybe try and make some more usable power, hopefully for some quicker E.T.s....

its a solid f/t with .522/.537 lift and 286/292 adv. duration....

haha if you think this cam is a little big on duration,my last one was 8 deg. bigger on the intake and 10 deg. on the exh ;)

the car ran very strong though, its the setup that is in my videos in my sig...hopefully ill benefit though from coming down on the cam, hopefully didnt too much though

What is the compression ratio going to be? With a cam that big I wouldn't run less than 10.5:1.

That cam will be excellent.. Wasnt your last motor a 350?
My little 355 with a Herbert solid 249/259 106 lsa .495/.500 and 9.5;1 comp is very strong.. Starts pullin hard at 26-2700 Rs..and dont wanna stop!!
gotta remember the lash brings the nimbers down a bit..
Good luck

I dont think ill ever run a hyd cam again!!

nah my last motor was a 385 that popped a head gasket (ooooopppss ;) ) and ended up trashing a few bearings

im confident in the cam since its a good deal smaller then the last one i had,and the time clock at the end of the 1/4 doesnt lie ;)

these are just from my own personal experiences though,i think itll scream

ive got a buddy with a 385 with similar specs(in fact it has the old bottom end out of mine),except hes running a 234/234 lunati hydro cam...if he puts a hurtin' on me,then ill entertain the idea that i need to step down a few more notches...well that and he probably has better heads then me (Trick Flow 195's)
